Director, Trust & Safety



Airtime is looking for a Director of Trust & Safety who will be responsible for maintaining the overall integrity and safety of Airtime’s platform. In this role, the Director of Trust & Safety will manage Airtime’s team of content moderators, work cross functionally with product, content, marketing, and other teams to maintain trust & safety across the platform, and will be responsible for enforcing policy as it pertains to the platform’s content and its users.

Additionally, the Director of Trust & Safety will be expected to establish and lead broader efforts to ensure Airtime is a trusted and safe community for its users. The ideal candidate will have experience running a robust trust & safety team at a social media company or user-generated content tech startup.The job is remote within the US.

What You’ll Do  

  • Manage and lead a team of content moderators who enforce community guidelines across the platform
  • Liaise with Airtime’s product team to ideate, recommend, and prioritize relevant product features
  • Work with Airtime’s content team to maintain safety of live events
  • Recommend third-party products that will strengthen trust & safety across the platform; manage relationships with these vendors
  • Build escalation procedures that enable Airtime’s team to report inappropriate content safely, swiftly, and securely
  • Be responsible for maintaining and updating Airtime’s external and internal policies
  • Implement best practices that address digital abuse, risks, trust, and safety within the Airtime community
  • In general, enforce guidelines and procedures that maintain the trust, safety, and confidence of our users

Who We’re Looking For 

  • 5-7 years of experience developing and leading a trust & safety team at a social media company or user-generated content platform
  • Experience managing content moderators who are reviewing content that may be inappropriate for users
  • Strong problem solving ability
  • Aptitude for critically analyzing data, legal requirements, and product limitations
  • Experience with de-escalation procedures and crisis management
  • Demonstrated passion for and success with implementing a digital safety program
  • Great written and verbal communication skills
  • High professionalism and sound judgement
